Drawing

When we draw we learn so much more!

SketchCan Caravan’s online drawing lessons are designed for children aged 3-7.
They provide a fun step-by-step guide to drawing a range of subject matter including people, vehicles, animals and buildings.

SketchCan’s drawing lessons promote important developmental skills in early childhood, gently guiding children through the fundamentals of drawing to support their own inquiries and self-expression. Our interactive resources enable children to engage at their own level to enhance:

  • Motor skills essential for writing
  • Language
  • Literacy and Visual Literacy
  • Imagination and Creativity
  • An exploration of maths, science and other curriculum areas
  • Respect and affection for the natural world
  • Illustration Skills
  • Focus and Attention
  • Planning and Organisation
  • Critical Thinking and Curiosity
  • Positive use of technology
  • Confidence

Each video tutorial uses clear and repetitive language to explain how we combine simple shapes and lines to compose recognizable images. As well as developing drawing skills, the SketchCan Caravan provides a quiet, versatile space to listen, follow and learn across the curriculum. While drawing alongside the online teacher, learners will be expanding their vocabulary and knowledge related to the selected subject matter. To conclude each lesson, students are invited to think about what they have learnt in their own context and develop their drawings into unique works of art.
