Inspiration for my videos comes from lots of different places, but mostly from the requests I get from children, parents and teachers. Learning is most powerful when it is self-directed, so when children are truly interested in what they are exploring, they will usually make the most significant progress. I am also on a learning journey, as every tutorial I make requires research and practice on my part. So when a previous teaching colleague contacted me to request a tutorial to help one of her students learn to draw a donkey, I got really excited. Since moving to Ireland I have come across lots of beautiful donkeys, including our neighbour ‘Nollaig’ who lives in the field next door. I love the shape of donkeys bodies, their long ears and dark eyes. So spending time observing, photographing and exploring simple ways to draw them was a pleasure. I hope this tutorial was useful and I look forward to seeing some student results in the future.
